Service Description
We will shed new light on the craft of acting by learning acting fundamentals, creating believable characters, and learning how to read and interpret a script. Our goal is to provide students the tools to do this work independently, which is a requirement for audition preparation and earning lead roles. Class will meet Sundays from 3:30-5:30 pm, and Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm, March 2- March 30. In advance of each class, reading and notetaking is expected and required. Specific instructions for class materials and required reading will be sent upon enrollment. This class is the first of a four-part training series leading to our dramatic one act play this fall. The following courses build on previous sessions, and will meet twice weekly through May, with dates and times determined by student and instructor availability. Students who complete all four classes are guaranteed a role in our fall production, where guest theater artists provide professional feedback following each performance. One Act rehearsals occur 2-3 times per week in the afternoons, June through August, with dates and times determined by actor and director availability. In September, we meet Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 pm. (For those who like to plan ahead, our tentative performance dates are: 8/21, 8/28, 9/13 or 9/14 and 9/27 or 9/28.) *Scholarship funds are available upon request, please email erin@treehousetheater.com.* **Students taking this course for the second time receive discounted tuition -- please email erin@treehousetheater.com for details.** Meet your teaching team: Chris Andacht has been involved in over 80 shows as either a Director or producer. A former theater teacher, he is a proud member of the Wisconsin High School Theater Hall of fame as a director, and the Jerry Musical Hall of Fame as a Director. Many of Chris's students have gone on to work professionally and he cites the Meisner approach as the backbone of his actor's success. Lisa Heili is a fixture on the Lakeshore theater scene. An accomplished actor, director, designer and stage manager, she has worked with various theater companies including Treehouse, the Masquers, and the Forst Inn. Erin Nycz, Treehouse Education Director and arts professional, knows firsthand how effective this approach is as she used portions of this method studying theater at UW-Madison and is excited to dive back into the deep end of acting!
